Oh dear. Luckily I'm not the only irresponsible child care taker then ;).

Agh - I did that, years and years ago. Ed's now a fine, young, soon-to-be 22 year-old! (Terrifying at the time, though.)

our 1 yr old did a stunt roll off the (low) deck staircase about two weeks ago... Somehow they are far more resilient than we give them credit. Thank goodness!

Glad to hear everything is OK!

They're not made of glass, you know, even though they're frail :) You're not a bad dad, perhaps just somewhat spaztic ;)

I'm glad that nothing serious happened.

A few weeks ago I was left to take care of two babies on our summer cottage while their mothers went to sauna. Before the last mother was out of the room, both kids rolled down the stairs; one stumbled, and I dropped the other one. I guess my friend Winston C. wouldn't have called that the finest hour.

u are not a dad for letting him fall.

what might make u less perfect is that u went to the trouble of posting this while he was falling. lol

lol My daughter took a tumble down the stairs when she was about 14 months old too...gave me the fright of my life! Amazingly there wasn't a mark on her...and she's now 14 with no apparent lasting damage. Sounds like a lot of dropped our babies on the stairs...it really doesn't sound good! :D

for the record... my wife was the one the child when she fell. I was in the hammock napping with our older daughter.

My middle one was nine months when he fell from a shopping cart kid seat while I just turned my back to reach out for a yoghurt. You can imagine the scream echoing in every corner of a Big supermarket for about five minutes... (but that only proved he was OK)

Now he is a fine young man (soon 4) perfectly capable of giving a black eye for his big brother by throwing a well-aimed 9-volt battery at him. Sigh.

And I banged our goddaughter's head to a lamp while lifting her to do the 'airplane' when she was one. Now almost three, it looks that the incident left more marks on me than her

Just think of this as a valid excuse to say, in later life "well, I did drop you down the stairs when you were a baby... maybe that's why you DO STUPID THINGS/BREAK YOUR MOTHER'S HEART/SET FIRE TO MY ROCKING CHAIR" (or whatever he's done that's pissing you off) :)

I had four brothers growing up (and three sisters). got my head slammed in a car door once. also remember almost blacking out when my bro kicked me in the head during a row. He also gave me several stitches with a table tennis bat after a hotly disputed call during a game of ping pong. The jury is still out on the long term effects (though have irrational fear of ping pong balls)

Stitches? What kind of table tennis bats you were using? Sharpened ones? Ninja edition?

I threw the ball at him. he retaliated by throwing the bat at me.
