Apple announced their press conference date right before Nokia's Ovi launch. Some press articles I read speculated on Apple's new iPods, then mentioned Nokia's launch. The top result for 'Nokia launch' on Google News was the image of an iPhone :)
@pirita I understand the launch was adjusted to UK return-to-school week (quite wisely, imho) - although they arguably would've been better off pr-wise stating that more clearly somewhere down the line
