Hurrah! It's been six years since I started paying attention to it, but someone's actually come up with a meaningful use of XMPP that isn't chat! I'm so happy.
It's really an interesting presentation. Inter-operable social networks are something that we all want now, and use of XMPP to achieve this is a very good idea. Once I thought about interoperability of Social Messaging tools, and here is my claim on Jyte.
Thanks guys. I'll continue pushing this (hehe) and create a specification out of it, that'll probably end up with the XMPP Standards Foundation as a XEP. If you have any comments, do let me know!
Any plans on creating another open-source project out of this Ralph? Seems like it has many purposes outside of the XMPP universe. Anyway, we should have lunch when you're back in Amsterdam :)
I am getting all sorts of ideas looking at this. For instance, connecting users with service-offering companies via XMPP infrastructure - use IM/SMS to order a pizza, book a place in a restaurant or cinema, get notified about new places in a given geo radius or when a company needs an XMPP expert. ;-) Also voice answering-like messages could be left for a human to digest and respond to.
Perhaps such online service would be the killer application for XMPP API. If this idea sounds interesting to someone - I want to participate. :-)
@dougclinton: I am painfully aware of this. We decided to upgrade the machine's PHP version from 4 to 5. And this breaks my site. I knew this beforehand but agreed since it would force me to fix the site.

@BlueAce: everything I will be doing in this area is most likely to become as open as I can make it.

@ralphm: Looks promising.
