I'm thinking of writing a paper about something like that too in the near future. I'm now studying a course "Media between technology and culture" and contains very often theories about how mediaconsumers and techusers have changed their behaviour through history. Would it be possible that you mail me the student mailaddress so I could ask about the thesis? I guess it would be a fantastic source in the future of my writing. My email is aforsen@kth.se.
Very interesting topic; especially in light of similar social networks. It would indeed be a nice read, @jyri: if this is something solid, could you recommend to the person to make a PDF/HTML download of the thesis available. I too would be interested in reading this.
BTW, there's also another new academic article on Jaiku, which may already be published... I'll look into that when I get home and find the details from my moving boxes...
Have to give you a bit of a disclaimer: first of all, it's already a year and a half old and won't most likely blow your mind. I've kept it under wraps for now as it's not exactly my proudest moment. I was ambitious when I started it but had to cut a few corners to meet the deadline in the end. I dug it up during the "draughtku" last week and realized what's done it's done. Perhaps I'll someday get a chance to rewrite it. Oh yeah, it's in Finnish.
