I often find myself looking at that book when I get around to shopping for a new book and it always seems pretty dense. Is it an easy read or do you find yourself having to really concentrate?
Wow, impressive. I'm about a fifth of the way through. Had to put it down for a while after the pages of (too-)detailed description of Royal Society animal experiments. Will pick it up again eventually.
All three parts of Stephenson's grand ouvre are lined up on the shelf here. Incidentally I'm also reading Mika Waltari's Johannes Angelos to Ulla. The Cycle is pure entertainment (not least to a student of STS), Waltari can touch hearts

Defn. worth doing all three... they are pretty heavy meals, but "System of the world" is a wonderful tying together of so many ideas.
